A chaotic scene occurred at Bud Billikin parade as people scattered, running for safety after gun shots fired near the intersection of 42nd and Martin Luther King Drive. About three shots were fired approximately 12:20pm during the parade procession. BreakingVoices was at the scene few yards from the shooting.

Police rushed into the crowds, then followed the direction of witnesses who pointed to direction where the man ran after being shot. The man ran towards 42nd and Calumet where he fell bleeding.
Police and ambulance treated the man's wound at the corner of Calumet and 42nd Street.
The Bud Billikin parade briefly stopped as people ran to safety.
In video, one can hear at 0:18-22 seconds a parade announcer expressing his disappointment saying, "Come on now Chicago, damn!"
Video also shows four male suspects being arrested by Chicago Police at the corner of 42nd and Calumet.
Police taped off the area where the shooting occurred. Many parade attendees continued watching the parade despite the shooting.
Now in its 85th year, the Bud Billikin annual parade is the largest back-to-school parade in the country. Today's shooting incident is the first known shooting in the parade's history.
The parade is travels south from 35th St. and Martin Luther King Drive in Bronzeville towards 55th and Washington Park on Chicago's South Side.
